It took me a little longer than I expected, but I’ve made screencaps of the first two episodes of the 2008 Disney Channel games!

I’m very happy that disney has adopted the new half hour special model for the games as opposed to the “spliced into the commercial time” format of the previous games.

I do still have some complaints, though. First of all, I still don’t know why they have the international stars in there. We don’t know who they are, and thus really don’t care.

And what happened to Phill Lewis? If he’s busy that’s fine, but Brian Stepanek should have at lest told us why he was the only host this year.

We’re also missing some of the A list stars. The most notable stars that are MIA would be Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus. I think Ashley may have had filming conflicts, so I guess that’s okay. Miley of course pulled out due to the bad timing of the Vanity Fair shoot. She did still make it for the Musical act portion though - which only pointed out how she was absent from the rest of the games.

Demi Lovato was there, though. Even though this was filmed before falf of all DC viewers even knew who she was! (I like her helmet hair. )

And speaking of Camp Rock, Alyson Stoner had some very nice closeups. She’s a talented girl, and it’s good to see her at the games!

Last but not least, I have to say that Selena Gomez is not getting anywhere near enough screen time. But at least she’s in there.

Reminder: The 2008 Teen Choice Awards are on Fox this evening. Miley hosts. Check your local listings.

One can only wonder how Miley will top last year’s outfit, though!

Some industry insiders are beginning to wonder whether Miley Cyrus� Vanity Fair shoot might have been a well-orchestrated blessing in disguise for the "Hannah Montana"� star and her career.

"I challenge you to show me a child star who really made the transition to adulthood smoothly,"� says one source. "Miley doesn�t have plans to leave showbiz any time soon, and to get that big "�grown-up� part, she needs to start looking like a grownup. That shoot helped."�

So what�s up next? Cyrus is rumored to be interested in the lead role in "Undiscovered Gyrl,"� the film version of Allison Burnett�s new novel. It�s still early for casting - Burnett�s agent Richard Abate has reportedly just begun shopping the manuscript to publishers and has yet to secure a deal for the film.

However, a source close to the project says Cyrus is interested in the part, which would be that of "a lovable, lost suburban girl who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity."� The source says if Cyrus did take the part, you�d be seeing a lot more of Cyrus than what appeared in the Vanity Fair photos. "There would definitely be nude scenes,"� says the source.

Cyrus� camp had no comment.

Besides the obvious, “OMG! She’s on the Disney Channel she can’t do that!” there’s also the fact that she’s 15. Last time I checked, she’d need to be 18 for such a role. But I could be wrong, and I suppose there could be “artistic” exceptions.

Although I must admit that the role of “a lovable, lost suburban girl who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity” does scream Miley…

The Muppets have teamed up with the Disney Channel stars for an all-new variety show special. “Studio DC: Almost Live!”, originally slated for a July premiere, has since been rescheduled and is now set to make its bit debut on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 8:00pm ET/PT (check your local listings for details). The half-hour variety show will feature special appearances by Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Dylan & Cole Sprouse, Jonas Brothers, and (of course) the Muppets. The special will feature singing and dancing, comedy sketches and the backstage antics of the original Disney Channel variety show.

Highlights of the program include Miley Cyrus performing her hit song “GNO” with the help of the Electic Mayhem; Kermit the Frog and Ashley Tisdale performing “Bop to the Top” (from High School Musical); Miss Piggy’s failing attempts to join Nick, Joe and Kevin for a musical number (posing as a long-lost Jonas Sister); Kermit and Gonzo join the cast of “The Suite Life” for a comedic skit; plus much more.

You won’t want to miss this all-new musical extravaganza, as a second “Studio DC” special featuring the Muppets is already planned to air on Disney Channel sometime fall. So be sure to re-mark your calendars, and prepare for this brand-new Muppet show.

“Trainreq” apparently hacked Miley’s email “a while back.” The three photos below where allegedly sent to Nick Jonas. He also claims to have read “alot of juicy emails, but [he] never thought of saving them.”

Hollywood scandals work, but not for kid stars. A semi-nude Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) in Vanity Fair could be the cause of an additional slide in ratings for the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana.

According to the Nielsen Company, the brand new episode of Hannah Montana which aired after the photos were released saw a 14% decline in viewers when compared to the previous fresh episode. However, longterm figures suggest that Hannah Montana ratings were declining prior to the nude pics - numbers are down 26% compared with the first original show of the year, which aired in January.

One issue is that once a show gets hot, programmers are stuck with a limited number of original episodes and must spread them over a long period. This means that as the time for new content increases, tweens fill their time with new shows.

And this is exactly what has happened.

Hannah Montana has now been replaced as Disney�s top-rated show by Wizards of Waverly Place, which stars Selena Gomez who has previously appeared on Hannah, reports the New York Daily News.

The ratings decline has not effected merchandise or retail partners. Wal-Mart has created areas just for “Hannah” items and production has just began on the “Hannah Montana” feature film.

“‘Hannah Montana’ kicked off as the highest-rated cable premiere series ever among kids and tweens, held the No. 1 rank across all TV, second only to ‘American Idol’ [in that age group] for two years, and is now a global hit,” said Gary Marsh, president, entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide.
